Wine Cork Garland Tutorial

We have an abundance of synthetic wine corks and I am always testing different ideas as how to reuse them. Here is my latest idea…

Wine Cork Garland for the Holidays!

Decorate the Christmas tree, banisters, and mantles with a lovely strand of wine corks. The above garland measures 21 feet, the perfect length to wrap around a tree. Or twist it with lights and hang it on a stair banister.  I love that this eco-friendly project can be used year round.  Put the finishing touches on anniversary dinners, or use colored cork garland to decorate for other holidays like the New Year or Valentines’ Day.

Materials needed:

Wine Corks, any type

Screw Eyes, any size

Key rings, any size

We simply screwed two screw eyes into each cork’s end and connected them with key rings!

As you see below, you can use different types of wine corks, different sized screw eyes, and different sized key rings to make different styles of wine cork garland.

We like to add champagne corks to the ends of the garland. Here is one we just made for our own decorating (in honor of a trip to New Orleans).

Happy Crafting!

I’m thinking a string of small lights with this would be neat.

Good ideas!! How much are your garlands?

I love the idea to link them together with hardware rather than drilling a hole through each cork in order to string them. Gives it a cool look and those who aren’t adept with power tools can still make this fabulous holiday decoration.
